week 13: news feed
new records, and new plans

Dear board, first of all - thanks for making the time.
This week we had our first “all-hand”. As you may already know, my brother and I have started Jared with the founders of Reflectly.
Jakob, Jacob, and Daniel have been very helpful to have on board. They have been in our shoes, and being a small team has been incredible.
Their role can best be described as founding advisors (with a stake in Jared).

We discussed our ideas, and how we envision the future of Jared look like.
Thank you
The news feed has been live for a week, and I just wanna say thank you for all the great feedback. This is only the early beginning of building the future of business news.
The @jaredainews feed is live.
Viewing your full collection of relevant articles in the web news feed is now possible.
This is a big step for us.
In our quest to build the future of business news, we need to move on from being a newsletter.

Minor improvements
We have a lot of ideas for, where to take this in the future, but for now - here are some minor improvements that will be shipped within the next couple of days.

Coming soon:
Images: We’ve had difficulties getting the right images from the articles, but that should be fixed by Monday.
Bullet points: Key takeaways can be too long for the feed view, which we are currently working on and may be fixed by tomorrow.
More news: One of the next steps will be to update the layout to showcase articles from previous days as well.
Let me know what small improvements you would like to see - send your ideas directly to me at [email protected].

Before turning my focus away from the 2,000-user project I ordered an ad in a newsletter called “For the interested” by Josh Spector.
The price for an ad was $350.
We gained ≈ 40 users which equals a CAC of $8.75.
Not ideal, but the channel worked in some way. I see this a something to be explored, maybe by collaborating with smaller newsletters and getting cheaper exposure.
Our numbers this week

Thanks to the ad, we once again hit a record high week with a 30% increase in users. Let's keep the momentum going.
Total active users | 163 | 🔼 30.40% |
Net new subscribers | 38 | |
Revenue | $0 | 🔼 00.00% |
The open rate is a bit down, which is expected as new users come in - but we aim to keep it above 50%. And this is gonna change very soon, as our news feed is starting to be more, and more useful.
I rather have high engagement on our platform, than our email newsletter as this is better business in the long term. This also means, that we’ll probably soon have to reevaluate and find some new KPI’s to track.
Emails delivered | 1,100 | 🔼 26.73% |
Unique opens | 545 | 🔼 06.86% |
Unique open rate | 49.55% | 🔽 09.21% |
Unique clicks | 65 | 🔼 96.97% |

Looking Ahead
I’m still very excited about the future of Jared. We have a lot of ideas in the making, and Frederik is grinding with the code.
I’m so excited for @jaredainews these days.
We have so many improvements coming up, both for the dashboard and the email.
Looking forward to sharing more of what we’re building on.

The main focus is just keeping a high shipping frequency while building organic channels for sustainable growth.
Our Goals for 2025
To build the future of business news.
I’ll share the ups and downs, our numbers, and our plans with you every week this year.
As mentioned, I’m always open to feedback, suggestions or just connecting.
